Visit to Cochin

The Luxury Kerala Packages consist of visiting Cochin. We would pass by another city Coimbatore which at times called the Manchester of Asia. The city has number of attractions which would include Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary and Black Thunder Amusement Park. If possible and time allowed we would cover them on our tour. Other wise we would continue with some breaks in between, where we would have some snacks. As soon as you enter Kerala, you would find number of things which would fall on your trail. Roads would be lined with coconut trees or palm trees and beneath them you would be able to locate joints selling coconut water. They would cost you around Rs 15- Rs 20. Try the water as it is completely refreshing and would smoothen your mind and body. Your hotel room would be ready in Cochin. The representative in Cochin would have booked the best of Ayurvedic resort in the city. Just unload your baggage and then you have to worry about nothing. The assistant we would provide with you would do the rest. Relax as this would be your first day and since you would be coming closer to some thing for which you have booked this tour - Ayurveda.

Consult the doctor and the physicians who would provide you an hour long session on Ayurveda. You would also plan this tour to know more about it and see how it can change your life. You would be divided into groups and enrolled into an Ayurveda programme. We could board the cab and zoom out to unfold the multifaceted city. Fishing Net, Bolghatty Palace, and Jewish Synagogue is some of the famous tourist spots of Cochin. Cochin, the historic port of ancient maritime trade attracted traders and merchants from the great civilizations of both the Western and Eastern worlds. In Biblical times, during King Solomon's reign the Queen of Sheba presented the ruler with gold, ivory, pepper and other exotic spices which is believed to have originated from Cochin. Cochin, now Kochi, is known to be a chief trading center in ancient India, with the bulk of export consisting mainly of Indian spices. It is supposed to have trade relations with Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Jews and Chinese. We come to know about the early history of the area by the written records of the visitors, like Ma Huan of China and Niccolo Da Conti of Italy. The beginning of the second millennium saw the emergence of the Kingdom of Kochi, which took shape after the disintegration of the Kalusekhara empire.The Kingdom was headed by a royal family known as 'Perumpadappu Swaroopam' in the local language. The hereditary reign of the Cochin Royal Family continued even after the region came under the influence of the foreign settlers. They were however not entitled to exercise their full authority over their subjects and were provided titular privileges only.By the turn of the sixteenth century, European voyagers and traders started to throng the Malabar coast and many of them sought settlement in Cochin and its adjoining areas. Soon the Portuguese became the master of the region and the entire area of Koch came under their dominion. The Dutch, supported by the Zamorins, defeated the Portuguese and took control of the city. In 1773, the Malabar region was conquered by Hyder Ali, the King of Mysore, and Kochi was forced to be a tributary of Mysore.
