Default Travelling London

Hallo,

We're looking for an accomodation in London or in Est of UK for a large
sport group (40 children 7/13 years old and 30 parents). The children
will play in Gillingham on 21/22 April so we'd stay near Gillingham on
20/23 April. We'd rent a coach for these days too.

Can you help us?

Thanks, Paolo

70 is a lot for one facility. I think the best YHA might have is
Coldblow Farm, about 10 miles (16km) from Gillingham.

Details: http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommoda...low/index.aspx

It has 42 beds and two 'sleeping platforms' whose size is not stated
(but I doubt they are big enough for 28 people, even small children).
It may be possible to pitch some tents there as well, so if you would
not mind having 10-15 of you in tents, it might be worthwhile
contacting YHA about it.

I don't know which email you tried but try medway@yha.org.uk

Medway's the nearest hostel, but they only have 40 beds.

Canterbury's nearer the size you want, but further from where you need
to be.

Is the date during the university Easter vacation? Some universities rent
out their halls of residence outside term-time - University of Kent
(Canterbury) do I believe.

It's not big enough. You said you have 70 people, plus presumably your
coach driver - and that hostel's only got 40 beds.

To be honest, I think you may be leaving it a bit late to find
accommodation for that many people in one place.

Probably not, unless they're having a very long break. Easter itself is
8th April; University of Wales break up on 23rd March. Assuming that
Kent is similar, I would expect them to have gone back round about 16th.
To be honest, even if the summer term doesn't start until the following
week, I'd expect quite a few students to be going back early because of
their exams etc.

FWIW, my daughter is at University of Kent and she finishes on Friday 30th of
March, then has four weeks off.
She is in the on-site student village, but as she can leave her possessions
there, it would seem they are not letting the houses out.
The halls may be different though.

Schools sometimes make themselves available for school/yoof sports
teams, though presumably that would be at the primitive "floor space"
end of the accommodation scale.

70 is an awful lot of people. It might be feasible in some of the
enormous hostels found in places like Germany, but in .uk...?
