Press deadline? Catharine, my 16 yr old lass, was trying to work out whether she'd be better off staying at Telscombe instead of Brighton. She's 'done' Brighton, but more to the point she intends to visit a friend (of her age, i.e. 16) whose mummy distrusts Brighton (the town not the hostel) to the point of not allowing her offspring to go next nor nigh the place even in broad daylight on a Saturday morning. They live in the Lewes area. Catharine likes the look of Telscombe, but of course being 16 she doesn't drive. She also prefers big towns and cities to the countryside. She is, in short, a teenager of the female persuasion. -- ....universities truly are storehouses of knowledge: students arrive from school confident that they know very nearly everything, and they leave years later cerain that they know practically nothing. It's maybe a dozen houses and the hostel. I think there's a postbox. It's a taxi ride away to anywhere, or a bit of a slog if carrying a lot of luggage, either back to the Lewes road, or footpath over the downs to Peacehaven & the coast road. I've no idea how good the Public Transport is in the area; but I'd imagine it to be much less frequent than Brighton to Lewes. |
