About Utah
Utah is one of the states that makes up the United States of America. It is often known to be a Mormon state because of the first pioneers of the church who arrived at Salt Lake. Today Salt Lake City is the center of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. In 2002 Salt Lake City Hosted the Winter Olympics.
The State of Utah, borders with the states of Idaho and Wyoming to the north, to the west with Nevada, the south with Arizona, and the east with Colorado. Utah is also home to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park.
Utah History
Utah was originally explored by the Spaniards in 1540, led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado. In 1776, the Domínguez-Escalante Expedition, with the intention to constitute a passage between Santa Fe (New Mexico) and the North coast of California, further explored Utah. Jim Bridger, explored some regions of Utah, towards 1800.
Utah was made an american territory in 1821. Its entrance in the American Union was made possible by the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, signed in Mexico in 1848.
