I was right about the decline in car usage. In North Carolina, the
Triangle area has a SmartCommute program. In Europe, driverless taxis
and busses, a concept called Personal Rapid Transit, is coming. And
nationwide, car sharing is entering the mainstream.

And in California and other states, laws are being passed to
require businesses and transportation departments to decrease
automobile dependence and increase the use of bicycling, walking, and
transit. Oregon has had such laws since the late 60s.
