OK, we've been going waky in here running our dot.com and thinking our
web site was going down all the frickin' time. Now, the gen mgr discovers that it is a router problem all over the internet. Does anyone have any info on how long its going to be before Qwest upgrades their routers so we can always be a part of the free world again? Pam |

It been a known issue for quite a while now, and one of the side effects is that people can do denial of service attacks. This is something that should be patched soonest. I don't know what router you are using, but if you have any Cisco router (even a 678) you should at least check it out. -- ~ kevin zollinger kevin@mailsoap.com |

Yes, I do believe that is the deal.
I doubt this has anything to do with my DSL router, but it is strongly effecting my DSL service with Qwest. ![]() I'm hoping they do the fix and my service won't be interupted all the time. ![]() Pam "kevin zollinger" <kevin@mailsoap.com> wrote in message news:Xns93BE6FB587D0Akevinmailsoapcom@206.127.4.25 ... > "Pam" <dontmailhere@invalid.com> wrote in > news:nRySa.251$Ks2.19663@news.uswest.net: > > > OK, we've been going waky in here running our dot.com and thinking > > our > > web site was going down all the frickin' time. > > > > Now, the gen mgr discovers that it is a router problem all over the > > internet. > > > > Does anyone have any info on how long its going to be before Qwest > > upgrades their routers so we can always be a part of the free world > > again? If you are on Qwest then you could have an Actiontech or a Cisco 675/678. If it is the Qwest router then there are hundreds and thousands of other customers that are having the same problem, and I hope that Qwest would fix it ASAP. I don't even know if Qwest uses Cisco for their internal networks, so it this point it's all speculation. Oh bummer.
So, you think my own server in my office and my Qwest router is effected itself? I assumed that it was ISP stuff only, sort of a packet dealy. I'm using Win NT on my server for my office computers. And yeah, Cisco 678 is my router to connect to the internet. I dread the thought of having to live through another qwest upgrade for my router. ![]() Pam "kevin zollinger" <kevin@mailsoap.com> wrote in message news:Xns93BE82A936A5Akevinmailsoapcom@206.127.4.25 ... > "Pam" <dontmailhere@invalid.com> wrote in > news:VAASa.955$N82.55931@news.uswest.net: > > > Yes, I do believe that is the deal. > > I doubt this has anything to do with my DSL router, but it is strongly > > effecting my DSL service with Qwest. ![]() > > > > What router are you using? Cisco 675/678 routers run CBOS, not IOS and are therefore not affected by the recent exploits. Pam, what you really need to do is contact your ISP and get them to assist you in troubleshooting your connection. A few traceroutes should help to determine whether the problem is with your DSL connection or somewhere further down the line. -mp |

I'd forgotton that. My partner (who does all the actual cisco work) reminded me of that as well. Of course we also don't know where the web site in question is being hosted, so that question might very well be moot. -- ~ kevin zollinger kevin@mailsoap.com |

Thanks for all you guys who educated me on this operating system.
![]() Ahhh, now I get to sit here and blame everyone else. I like that.heheeee Anyway, the web site is hosted by a datacenter in New Jersey somewhere. They upgraded their router before all hell broke loose. My inability to get to my web site (in theory) is because of packet loss on the way. My ISP is Qwest DSL. They went down for 1-1/2 hours on either Friday or Saturday and I'm assuming at this point that they were upgrading their IOS. So far, no more problems for me. I'm hoping that my little crisis isover until the next hacking.......
