Anyone happen to know a sensibly priced parts supplier for Yanmar 1GM10.
online or in NE Kent Area in particular I am looking for parts to rebuild the Johnson seawater cooling pump? I have tried googling but the prices I have found so far seem so ludicrous ( but I am probably living in the past) I haven't ruled out making some parts, such as the shaft and cover plate myself and just ordering proprietary seals and bearings etc. Chris |

It should be a Yanmar part - driven by an internal lug through a hole in the timing casing. Mine is circa 93 and has a Yanmar pump of that type. The 2GM20 and 30 have Johnson pumps, belt driven, on both the sea water cooled and FWC engines ? http://www.marine-power.co.uk - do a 1GM10 pump for £177 - a new one includes a new impellor. Most places for Yanmar are about the same prices - I usually deal with Rollo in Avonmouth, since its local. I have the Yanmar workshop manual for the GM series if you need any info, let me know. Bearings and seals are standard and cost a few pounds - the shaft is
iniquitously priced. I had a few made by a tame machine shop but won't part with them because I expect to use them myself. I do wonder, though, if there is a market for someone to have a batch of a few tens made by a CNC shop. I haven't ever used a cover plate, but I have a SpeedSeal fitted anyway. http://www.speedseal.com/speedseal.html Regards, Jerry 1973 Marcon Sabre 27 bilge keel Plymouth, UK Remove the obvious from my address to reply |

It seems that there are few suppliers and a cartel on prices. If I get time I may machine the shaft and cover from material I have in my workshop and source the seals and bearings from a bearing supplier. Whilst it is ok to copy parts for ones own use I would imagine copying proprietary parts to sell could lead to litigation in some circumstances. Chris |

Geoff Thanks Geoff it is a 1GM10 and I think the Johnson site hints that Johnson made the 1GM pumps for Yanmar. Certainly a Johnson impeller was fitted. Thanks for the kind offer re info from the manual. Fortunately I managed to buy a workshop manual on ebay at a very reasonable cost. Chris |
