I have no idea. Do you know where you're going to end up? Gunwharf Quay? If so why not get in touch and ask them to be the "care of"? http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/berths.htm |

People should be able to write to you "poste-restante"
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poste_restante) and then you go to the main post office in the city and pick it up. I've certainly used it lots of time (though never in the UK I don't think) and it always worked OK. Even the Tax office were able to find me in the Canaries once! I have used this in the past. Fred Bloggs, c/o <address of post
office> seems to work also.. A good question! Maybe this is why mail correctly addressed is returned to NL from UK as undeliverable three months after we posted it? They think we are all at sea? -- Martin |

Actually it might be much more convenient to collect that letter from the Harbour Master Office (even being on-duty
mate) than loose a time for city walk to the post office when off-duty... JaC ----- > Contact Royal Mail and ask them about their Post Restante service to mariners. |

I don't really understand the problem. You surely know the address of the place you're going to arrive at, can't you just make arrangements with them direct? Or will you be swinging on a hook in the middle of nowhere? Or would you like a Portsmouth(ish) based UKRSer to accept the package and drop if off to you? |

I've never been to Portsmouth.
In many harbours and marinas in Europe I saw a place to collect the mail. Let's say at marina office, local marina hotel, etc. When it comes to arrangements, you never know with the weather, and also with free place at the quay. If you want to do this sort of thing, use the royal mail "post restante" service - it's free and proven. As far as the address - just choose a post office from <http://www.inportsmouth.co.uk/community/postoffices/index.htm> (the first link produced by Google for "Portsmouth post offices"). |

OK, I understand. To be honest, you're just going to have to pick _somewhere_ to pick it up from. A post office is going to be as easy to get to as anywhere else, with less room for mix ups. |

And depends on you being able to get to a Post Office during opening hours. Which means that if you are planning a quick call which may be, say, Saturday afternoon till Monday morning, or the Tuesday morning after a bank holiday, you're stuffed. Ian |
