Five meetings at Brighton so far this season and only one without fret. As
it moved over the parade ring it looked like steam coming out of the ground.
Another really dreadful meeting but a prophetic headline in the RP "
Danceinthevalley will have them in limbo by halfway" Wonder what would have
happened if the favourite had not decided to ditch his rider and reverse out
of the rear
of the stall as they opened.... still I'm glad it did.
Highlight of the day was not the racing but going to Blonde Bombshells of
1943 at the Theatre Royal.
Derek.

Not ginger beer, Irn Bru in Scotland. Used to listen to Lord Haw Haw but I
preferred Funf Speaking in ITMA but could not stand Gracie's screeching
voice. Gracie, who the government did not regard as British as she was
married to an Italian and would not give her a British passport. But the
Royal Family in Barbados??

Workers Playtime went on for years after the war. When I worked for Ferranti
in Edinburgh they had one of the final Workers Playtimes broadcast from it's
canteen... around 1958. Starring Jimmy Logan of course.
