ok ok I know its thoughts, but poetic (like what I am)licence permits ;-)
Good races equals good horses equals headache trying to sort one out :-) however Chest 1.50 possibly trickiest race on the card 5f madcap race lol STEEL CUT is expected,(well tipped up) to reverse places behind DADDY COOL but despite his outside draw I think he may be just too cool for them(sorry)He has improved with every run.If YUNGABURRA can transfer his amazing AW form to turf he can be a major player here. Chest 2.20 ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET ran like a log lto over 1m but is expected to improve over this 10f job.If he does well it will cheer up YELLOSTONE ante post fiends as he was a long way back with YS 3rd.I may take a chance with YAZAMAN of Mr Gosdens winner of his only two starts albeit in lower grade, but oh so easily,he could as they say be anything,I hope he is something today and then next month *grin* Ham 7.20 BAYONYX caught my eye,1st time h`cap and hasn`t stopped improving, going and trip not a problem,a bet to nothing ew imo Nott 4.45 How can anyone who has seen his reurgence not be on RACCOON,his win the other day was out of this world winning by at least 20 lengths ;-) easing up,never won over 6f but this year this former excellent sprinter "wot lost his way "showed no signs of stopping lto well that`ll do for me,think I`ll take a nap ;-) -- David "That Damn Butterfly" ps can any of you more erm senior ngers remember a horse called THAMES TRADER,it keeps re-occuring in a dream,or day dream or RIOJA filled eebi jeebie? If it weren't for the pig awful draw then I would have gone for the filly, Morinqua. Of course if the price were to rise to almost double what is it is now... > Chest 2.20 > > ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET ran like a log lto over 1m but is expected to > improve over this 10f job.If he does well it will cheer up YELLOSTONE > ante post fiends as he was a long way back with YS 3rd.I may take a > chance with YAZAMAN of Mr Gosdens winner of his only two starts albeit > in lower grade, but oh so easily,he could as they say be anything,I hope > he is something today and then next month *grin* > > Ham 7.20 > > BAYONYX caught my eye,1st time h`cap and hasn`t stopped improving, going > and trip not a problem,a bet to nothing ew imo > > Nott 4.45 > > How can anyone who has seen his reurgence not be on RACCOON,his win the > other day was out of this world winning by at least 20 lengths ;-) > easing up,never won over 6f but this year this former excellent > sprinter "wot lost his way "showed no signs of stopping lto > > well that`ll do for me,think I`ll take a nap ;-) > -- > David > > "That Damn Butterfly" > ps can any of you more erm senior ngers remember a horse called THAMES > TRADER,it keeps re-occuring in a dream,or day dream or RIOJA filled > eebi jeebie? > > Derek? > > > |

A cuttings search on the RP site brings up: Thames Trader, winner of the 1961 Bessborough Handicap at Royal Ascot, ran regularly in minor conditions events and was sometimes beaten in them, but never at odds shorter than 1-3 - a fate he suffered at Brighton in August 1961. A high-class but not particularly reliable gelding, he is perhaps best remembered for giving John Oaksey (then Mr Lawrence) an armchair ride when landing the inaugural Moet & Chandon Silver Magnum at Epsom in 1963. I also remember Seb Sanders and others saying that Racoon did not stay an inch farther than 5F when a 4yo. I backed him the other day but the penalty, the draw and the distance will make me inclined to lay him this time. One of the team on Betfair radio mentioned that he had just been Tubed to account for his return to form. My memory tells me that he was tubed when he ran at Musselburgh last summer but the Form Book does not mention it until his first win this year. Interesting that four of his six wins have been in May. While you stick to the Rioja, I'll settle for Desert Dew today. Derek. |

I like the old horse, who goes genuinely and doesn't seem to mind being lightly or heavily raced, and will probably benefit from the 7 pounds claimed by the amateur toff on board. The toff who rode him far too boldly last time at Hexham cost him the race IMHO, to my cost! Not too badly weighted and with a decent consistency in his mediocre class of race, he should not be available at the current 7.2 on Betfair by rights. Excellent value. Good luck chaps. |
