I think it's because he's young, a rookie, and doing quite well...

But then, you knew that already you pathetic trolling waste of air.

No. It's probably because he's the most talented and sucessful rookie 'ever'
in F1.
Mike.

There was a similar amount of hype about Jenson Button. The difference
between Button and Hamilton has nothing to do with the colour of their
skons, it's their ability.

Personally, I think the expectation is ratcheting up far beyond what
it should be. He's almost being expected to win the WDC - while I
wouldn't totally discount it as a possibility, to have it put up as
his target may result in serious disappointment if and when he doesn't
win it.

Surely the difference is that Hamilton lucked into a fast car straight
away, but Button didn't.

Are you sure it was luck?

It was a bit lucky. The timing of McLaren's resurgence.

I thought that Alonso was a nut case when he decided to dump Renault last year
for McLaren. What a difference between Renault and McLaren this year!

Of course Hamilton has been groomed by them for a long time.

Something like 10 years. And, if anything, his entry into F1 has been
delayed to wait for the McLaren resurgence.

But, then Kimi lucked into a fast car and.... there is more to it than
lucking into a fast car, look how he pushes, how he looks out for the team
by cutting off Massa and seeing that McLaren stays in the lead. He's smart

That and he's good.

Scott Speed got a lot of hype last year because he was American. If he
had been as good as Lewis the pub would be the same as it is for
Lewis.

Scott Speed managed to receive about as much hype in the USA last year as
Canadian Osella driver Alan Berg did in Canada back in 1986.

Not worth jumping up about.

It's because he's British.

Okay, and, really fast. His qualifying run was pretty awesome.

Ralfie managed three podiums that year in the same car. Button's best
result was 4th. Hamilton also won the GP2 championship in a car which
was the same speed as the other cars on the grid. The absence of
footsteps on the path to Button's door seems about the same as that to
Fisi's.
