Default The ideal Test

England win the toss and bat.

Oz play McGrath. He has an opening spell during which he bowls Vaughan
with a noball which goes for four after hitting the stumps. He then
pulls a muscle and can take no further part in the match.

England make 300.

Oz bat and make 400.

England bat again and make 99/9.

The rain sets in and the match is drawn.

But we would go through the agonies of the damned before the rain
arrived. Also Australia would claim that they had been robbed by the
weather. I'd far sooner thump them by an innings and plenty. (Not that I
think that's likely.)

<Snip>

Make 600, then beat the Aussies by an innings - sounds better than your
version.

But that's the beauty of it - they *couldn't*, because of what happened
in the 3rd Test...

The alternative is for it to rain steadily for five days and the
entertainment would come from watching Oz faces and listening to their
ever rising whining voices saying Jeez...look... . RH
