Default Just got back from the Oval - my thoughts

Dear All

Well I can say I saw us regain the Ashes. A phenomenal day that I imagine
will take a while to sink in. My thoughts, probably quite random:

1) The overwhelming "sporting" feeling - e.g. Standing ovations for Warne
during the game if he ever had to do some boundary duty.

2) We were in the 2nd row from the front at backward square-leg (if I've
got my positions correct) and had McGrath, Lee and Tait fielding in front
of us most of the day: Lee and especially McGrath were very sporting in
all the goading from some of the more inebriated. Shaun Tait ignored
everything and got goaded beyond belief. He'll learn to at least
acknowledge the crowd next time. He is 17 isn't he anyway?

3) The atmosphere for about an hour as we slowly wrested the iniative in
the afternoon - the crowd were electric, and you could sense something
was on the turn. Something I won't forget in a long while, we had a great
sing-song.

And slightly amusingly:

4) The heavy-handed stewards. Get a sense of humour, guys!

5) Being approached by Ashley Giles' cousin to congratulate us on our
Giles "King of Spain" t-shirts

6) Watching KP's 150-odd and thinking "I hope RH is quietly fuming in his
bedsit" !!

A wonderful day: I'm now off to bed, very sunburnt. I was there!!
