Bat-pad appeal against Ponting off Giles. The slow-motion replay showed the ball
deviate towards the pad just before hitting it, and the snickometer showed a thin peak that you only get from contact between two hard objects, but still Greig reckoned that it only hit the pad. -- David North Email to this address will be deleted as spam Use usenetATlaneHYPHENfarm.fsnet.co.uk |

And maintained that view after numerous replays. The man is such a moron. How he ever captained England is beyond me! He's the only commentator who angers me more than a one-man Aussie team ![]() |

I know, the edge was as clear as day to the naked eye. Greig is an idiot. But I agree that Greig's regular and frequent howlers are well beyond a joke. I think that it might be a good time for Ritchie to retire. He will always be one of my favourite commentators, but in this series I have detected a number of occasions when he has stubbornly refused to accept that his initial view was wrong, or has tried to pretend that he meant something other than what he actually said. It is I suppose a characteristic that often comes with advancing years. I can only be grateful that my own objectivity is thus far quite unaffected by old age, and that I would be able to admit frankly that I had made an error of judgement or observation, if ever such an occasion was to arise. Indeed. It's pretty obvious that they shouldn't extend their lead beyond what England have time to score. Also when they discussing whether they should come off for bad light, it was suggested that if they stayed on and lost a wicket or two, it would affect their ability to score quick runs. They seemed to have forgotten that they have 18 wickets still in hand. -- David North Email to this address will be deleted as spam Use usenetATlaneHYPHENfarm.fsnet.co.uk |

True, but at least that required extrapolation to predict what would have happened, rather than merely observing what did actually happen. > But I agree that Greig's regular and > frequent howlers are well beyond a joke. > > I think that it might be a good time for Ritchie to retire. If it wasn't for the bad back, and the wheezy chest I'd feel 18 years old. Pheonix pavillion in Dublin was bombed by them too.
