These are part of the mind / conciousness that are not in present awareness. I'm not talking here about say habits or traumas that maybe blocked, but a deep and rich memory tract that would overcome anyone if it ever "popped" open. Normal logical thinking will never get you down there, only long and deep meditation and some luck that you can actually bypass the anthropomorphic brain.
