Default Cynthia Jane Anderson's last days

Jack, Robin, Kenneth, Larry, Judy, Cynthia and Carolyn stood smiling in
portait formation in warm welcome. "What could merit such an invitation?"
Jane wondered. Then she knew that their motives were more of a dark,
sinister nature. She waved the Powelsons goodbye. She knew she was dead.
All she could do was leave a trail to her body.

Jack had access to civilian records in his line of work. He selected a
house in Belmont, Ohio owned by Jim and Dorothy Giffen. It was there that
Jane
Anderson walked into the trap.

"Hi. I'm Jonathan Giffen and I'd like to get together with you," said the
male voice, but after a few questions Jane knew he was an imposter, and
wouldn't cooperate. Their plan failed.

"We have Jonathan Giffen in captivity, and if you tell anyone, we will kill
him. If you want him to live, come to Belmont, Ohio and meet with me, and
I'll tell you what to do next," they said. This time Jane cooperated.
However, after she realized what was going on, she did everything she could
to defeat their plans for me, even if it meant she died, but I lived. Their
plans failed again. From this point, all they could do was kill her and
cover their tracks.

There were houses on only one side of the street, because on the other side
was the steep slope of the foot of a mountain, and the street ran into the
sun. The house was the home of newborn Jack Powelson, and it was along that
street. Jane was tied up, put in the house, and it was burned down by
arson.

Why would Jack do something like that? Probably to mock the authorities, to
leave behind a "Touch of Class," to joke about among his high-browed
friends.
