If the bushel is empty, do you burn it? No. You use it to gather.
If the bushel is full, do you destroy it? No. You use it to build up stores. What profits to fill an empty bushel with a full bushel? It profits nothing. If it is suspected true, let it be tested. If it is found out to be true, then let it prevail. The truth is indifferent to the belief by multitudes. As was once thought, the world was flat. Furthermore, those who argued otherwise were persecuted. Today the multitudes believe the world is round, and their belief is true. Why, then, fill an empty bushel with a full bushel? It's true that one fills the other, but then the empty one must be filled again, as well. Therefore truth unto itself is dead, but for the purpose the truth is applied. Just as a knife can kill or heal, so can the truth. Better the lifeguard save both himself and the drowning man, than the lifeguard drown saving him. It's a waste if they both drown and die. |
