Default Stacking...?

Hi Chaps

I had a bash at taking a bunch of 10 second exposures of M13 the
other day, then tried registax to stack them....

The result was worse than the best frame!
Could this be because i did not pick the best
frames from the bunch ?

Thanks

Rob

Can you give any idea what they look like? Ideally, a link to them?

Both tries are linked below...
Most images are at least half a meg..Sorry!
Result = 0result.jpg for both cases...

M27 or M57?

If I don't get the call of the pub tonight (heh heh heh - unlikely)
I'll have a look - I've downloaded them all...

Here's my attempt on M57 only, lifes too short to wait for M13 on a dial up
:-(

http://www.leadbeaterhome.fsnet.co.uk/M57_temp.htm

Aligned and stacked with k3ccdtools
Low histogram point set to reduce noise
High histogram point set to stretch contrast
Gamma increased to 1.8 to stretch faint detail
Red curve tweaked in photoshop to bring out colours in ring

Wow,

When i go to sleep tonight i will have pictures of M13
and M2757 burned onto my retina.

Thanks for the response, if it where a competition i think
Pete.L would be the winner, they are all better than mine.

I was hoping some one would use Photoshop, i have
used that alot. I have read about stacking with this app
but never tried it. It saves me from "learning" a new bit
of software.

I will give it a bash tomorrow and post the results..

Thanks Gents

If you hadn't been brave enough to post a link to your original 'poor'
(in the nicest possible way of course) attempts, you would not have
ended up with the nice result you have.

Sometimes we all need a kick up the backside to push us closer to
excellence. (Sick buckets at the ready sir...!)

Thanks Pete. On reflection, I probably pushed it a bit too far for effect.
I would rather be imaging though, but I guess it is something to do while
waiting for some....

Hi Rob,

Not sure what camera you have but if it doesn't do it automatically, it
might be worth taking a stack of dark frames at the same time to subtract
from each image. That might help with the noise too.

Robin
