Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a Tamiya TGS - FS-12SS from a friend and after a short stint out on its second day I have an issue with the Recoil Starter unit - or so I think??? the pull cord retracts fine but it doesnt seem to be turning over the engine any more - any advice would be appreciated prior to me pulling it apart. thanks donovan |

Hey Mike,
as a matter of fact I was starting it outside, but I live in Australia - so its not really cold - I ended up pulling the whole car apart and discovered that the Rear Adaptor Plate was loose causing the Starting Shaft to not be connecting to the Connecting Rod. I fixed that issue and put it all back together only to discover that I could pull the Starter Cord at all - Unless I removed the Glow Plug - as if there was too much compression of air and nowhere for it to escape... Any Ideas? |

Yea, try to start it without any fuel first. If it is still hard to
pull then make sure that you have the little brass ring under the glow plug. That is all I can think of to do. I worked my way through the compression issue too...
seems its is a little hard the to cycle the engine the first few times after putting it back together (sometimes)... I found the rear adapter plate (back plate for the engine) came loose again - may have to find some nut locking gel? well I had to pull it all apart again to tighten the plate again and found the gasket has broken so I will replace. I also got a rechargeable glow plug starter and now find starting much easier as my battery powered starter had a flat batter unbeknown to me as there is no meter on it and it was still warming the plug - just not as much as it should have been. I am also considering pulling the front and rear ends apart - soley for cleaning purposes - wish me luck I am now running smooth and without issue - thanks d <mike smith@yahoo.com> wrote in message news fgjp1l60nkptj7aa4svmu2b8avs97aa17@4ax.com...> Yea, try to start it without any fuel first.
