Take a visit to your nearest metal detector club
and chat to the members to see what detectors
they are using nowadays.
Pick up a recent copies of "Treasure Hunting" and "The Searcher" to
look through the adverts for detectors.
The top machines these days are made by firms like Minelab,
Laser, Tesoro and Whites.
Most good detectors will cost well in excess of £400 if bought new,
but you can obtain decent secondhand machines.
I would be surprised if you were to get much of a trade-in price on the
1220B.
