Nice to see at least one BBC programme that shows
detectorists in a good light for once!
Noted the Laser Rapier finding the good stuff whilst the Minelab
Explorer XS finding found the iron gate fastener - good advert for Minelab -
not!
The shots taken with the camera mounted on the search coil
made it look like the detector was standing still whilst the
persons body was swinging about - made me feel quite giddy!
One thing that always intrigues me though is why do some detectorists wear
comouflage jackets and trousers - is a habit left over from nighthawking?

Ive thought the same thing myself. I think its more of blending in. I must
admit when I go out I wear khaki colours purely for the fact if someone sees
me through the trees they dont see a bright red bigfoot waving a stick.

Well, I,ll have to defend that chap - he did say it was probably iron
at the time of digging if you remember. Also, with the history of the
field, wouldn't you dig it if you were unsure? (I know I would have).
