I recently purchased a Garrett Ace 250, mainly for dry sand beach hunting on
the West Coast. While this detector has some great reviews, and does seem to be capable of doing everything I could imaging, I must be doing something wrong. Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on my situation? The first obvious and frustrating thing is, many time on the first pass, I get a pretty good sound and reading in the upper scale for example. Then nothing when I pass over the same area again - no sound or reading at all. What happened? Where did the object go? It could not have just disappeared, so what happened to it? Is this a normal behavior for dry sand detecting, or am I doing something wrong? Likewise, 90% of the time, when I do get a constant reading, I get a sound and visual for 1 cent, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents 1 dollar and/or silver, only to find a rusty nail. What gives here? What am I doing wrong? I've adjusted the Sensitivity setting, but the results are pretty much the same - normally finding a rusty nail, no matter what the identity says and the sound it produces. Please advice if you can. John Sisker jsisker@sprynet.com (714) 536-3850 |
