I've posted a couple of JPGs of a whorl and a badge found recently. The
webpage won't win any awards unless it's for 'LEAST CREATIVE' or similar but any info regards age and history behind the items would be much appreciated. Either click the email link on the page or reply here if you can!! Please click here---> http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andre.craddock/finds.html Thaks ... Andre |

Nice find Andre
The badge looks like a horse harness decoration. I am no expert but the crown doesn't look like it relates to any particular royal era for military use and the design below is a bit plain to relate to military or royal origins. I am only guessing that the design was of the maker's choice. Would you say it is made of copper alloy and the green is patina and not enamel? Any chance of upping a higher resolution picture to your site and a scan of the reverse? I'll take a couple more pics and post em tomorrow.... Cheers...Andre |

Told you I was no expert. I thought the props were petals. Still not sure though. Google image search on that doesn't come up with anything similar. Still think it might be a Horse Harness Decor. Have a good time in N.Y. Andre, hope you're not sleeping in the middle of the town, bleddy noisy place. And don't trust those 'walk' signs, the cars really don't care if you are crossing the road when they say that. Cheers for the replies guys! We had a great time in NY, even filmed a
GARRETT metal detecting machine in action (whilst waiting for a ferry) til a gun toting security guard put a stop to it "BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS SIR!!" he drawled... I would have been had we not been shepherded like a load of sheep dressed as sardines into a room the size of cardboard box... The wife has now named my detector. She asked me if I was out with 'Dolly' this weekend....I said yes... |
