Hi all, I have just purchased a Fisher Coinstrike and I am a complete
newcomer to this hobby, and would like some help in getting started. Thanks John. |

The first thing you should have done is asked before you purchased the
detector, but at least it wasn't a Tandy. Not that theirs anything wrong with the coinstrike, but you could've bought a Tandy. Am I making myself clear? No, I thought not. John, what you need to do now is get in contact with your local club, and join either the fid or ncmd organisations for there public liability insurance. Try these websites :- http://fid.newbury.net// http://www.ncmd.co.uk/ They will also point you in the direction of your local club. Whereabouts are you located? Hi all,
Managed to put the batteries in OK. Spent an hour wandering up and down the beach where the Romans landed at Hamworthy, all I found were about 20 coke cans, empty of course, a 1971 1p piece and several dogs visiting cards. There must be more to detecting than this. Then took myself off to the pub for lunch, then a thunderstorm stopped play for the day. John. >cans, empty of course, a 1971 1p piece and several dogs visiting cards This is all part of the pleasure of beach detecting. Have you any land you can do. Back gardens usually have too much rubbish in them. Ask a friendly local farmer and join a club as has been suggested. Unfortunately drinks cans and ring pulls usually give a good signal and beaches are littered with them, discrim them out and you will knock out most of the good stuff. There are good times to search beaches, after a storm at low tide, have a search and you will get more info on it. Also get your settings right. Wish you well Rev "John Cutler" <jmc@phoenix-auto.fsnet.co.ukINVALID> wrote in message news:bjkdop$272$1@news6.svr.pol.co.uk... > Hi all, > > Managed to put the batteries in OK.
