Default Fisher 1220X

Hi all,
Am a newbie to all this!
Have been given an old Fisher 1220X detector but it has no battery packs,
only 2 PP3 type leads. The instructions say it take two sets of 4 AA's (8)
Can anyone tell me the voltage of each pack, is it 3V or 6V ? I can then
make up or buy suitable holders.
Thanks,
Oz

AA are usually 1.5v each, so each pack would probably be 6v I reckon...

....but rechargables are around 1.2v each, so that'll be 4.8volts then.

Try your local Maplins for 4 x AA battery holders, usually quite cheap,
IIRC.
