It's a sign of the CB revival. As long as they use the rigs and not stick
them in a cupboard it's a good thing.

The thing that gets me is there was one the week before ending around £15
looking about the same and one just finished for under £20. Why do these

I spoke to a man who ran a CB shop for many years and is now doing the
rallies al round Europe selling plugs and coax and he said that there will
be a CB revival very soon. Weather its disgruntaled M3's returning or new
blood I dont know

I had my fun with CB and sometimes its best to leave it as good memories

I wonder what he bases this on?

When CB stated it was popular due to "Convoy" etc and its ability so provide
cheap accessible communication.

Unless there is "Convoy the Return" in the wings (God forbid), with the
comms side covered by mobile phones and Email etc, I can't see it myself.

>Weather its disgruntaled M3's returning or new

Why would they "return", assuming they ever were on CB (a minority of my
recent students have any real history of CB). Most M3s have been made
welcome and many have moved onto the 2E etc.

give them time...most amateurs are so stuck up their own arses that they
hate
the fact that there could be someone new to talk to on amateur frequencies
that they shun any new users to the bands..or generally mock and take the
piss
so new users go back to where they came from..

moaning about the lack of users..then ridiculing any new users thinking they
could be lower class because they are 'only an M3 or a novice'
to be honest i left amateur radio to head back to CB....every one is an
equal on CB..unlike the better G0 or M0..

amateurs really piss me off..negative atitudes towards new blood...

sorry rant over..

Don't worry about it... they'll all be dead soon enough, either from
emphysema because of the foul dog end roll-ups, asphyxiation (forgetting
to breathe on a marathon 4 hour over through 'the box') terminal
halitosis/body odour or their long suffering wives will beat them to
death out of sheer sympathy for the rest of humankind

In my day there were quite a few notabe (G3xxx) amateurs on CB in my area.
Inspired quite a number of youngsters to enter the hobby (and profession in
most cases).
I've always wondered why 11m is not an amateur band primary and CB band
secondary. No reason why not, just lack of imagination I guess. Callsigns on
CB seemed to go down like a lead balloon, I'm guessing this was too little
too late.

Oh well, who needs CB when you can have 10watts SSB/AM/FM/CW on either 160,
80, 40, 20, 17, 15, 6, 4, 2m and 70cm after a weekend course, take your
pick.

why should it ?

the article was posted to the same groups as TOX posted to.
which is as per practice.

all u have to is listen to 40m

'my personal would be' this that the other

the blowing into microphones causing qrm.
almost zero-beat tuning-up.
using some digital sound maker to cause qrm
radios bought to be 'snipped' onto 27 as well.

amateur radio has been turned into cb.
and some day, if not already, those who did it will be on the
receiving end of behaviour on-the-air which will finally make
them realise it..and when it happens...then they'll realise
that its too late to do anything about it.

Not my experience at all. I've had my G7 for 15 years but never used it.
I came onto 2m recently and found folk welcomeing and helpful.

Still prefer 11m

Unbelievable. "The best CB ever made"? That's not my recollection. The
Uniden based rigs were much better.

They were for broadband rejection but distance copies were lazy on the old
meter... the fronts also wore easily and looked tatty and the outgoing audio
was often "bassy" but that said if you had a mint Audioline 341 or Uniden
Uniace 200 they were nice rigs. Theres many an arguement to which was the
best CB ever made but the waffle certainly made him a great sale...
