Maybe you should think about this first...
<quote ref="Food Standards Agency"> QUAKER OATS BATCH WITHDRAWN Quaker Oats Ltd has withdrawn 750 of its 1kg cartons of 'Quaker Oats with free measuring cup' due to the presence of moth pupae and larvae. </quote> I find it surprising how many food alerts there are, with nothing being heard on TV or radio news, but I found that one rather more disgusting than the usual contamination warnings I see. Regards, Peter. |

Usenet is most certainly moderated, not all groups are and not this particular group, but a number are. Come back when you've got your facts right. |

Working in electronics, I have seen the attitude where bosses let good go out when they have been alerted to a possible fault... only to have the products return. You would hope that, with the serious dangers, food manufacturers would be more careful. But it appears that they only care about profit margins. > When I worked over there (in Southall) many years ago, installing hydraulic > lines (where they made and packed Sugar Puffs) they used to gob at the > product as it went by, same in the Walls plant factory next plot, they used > to see who could gob at the furthest pack of sausages or pies, (Rolf and > Huey), don't eat Walls sausages or pies after that or Sugar Puffs, Oh come > to that Mars bars or Opal Fruits, did some work at the Mars factory in > Slough as well, yeerp! No more Mars bars and stuff for me thankyou. Do you think that what you saw was the only place it happens at? For all we know, it could happen in many other factories. Who knows what happens to food before it reaches us? And, with the food companies that take on anyone who will do the job, without any checks (including illegally employing immigrants), is it just a matter of time before something serious happens? > Nowadays we grow our own here, we have a few chickens, a few pigs and a > couple of sheep to keep the grass down, local slaughterhouse does the deed, > and bags them up for the freezer, our own well and septic tank, plus a wind > generator, plenty of trees on the plot for firewood, only bill is the > Telephone, car tax/ins etc. Great early retirement, recommend it to anyone, > if you want to of course. But there must be a limit to what you can produce for yourself. There must be some food that you buy from the shops, and you never know what the staff did to it. Regards, Peter. |
