Default Burner Pulled SWR Down. OK?

Hi,
I just popped a little 35w Burner and 30dB PreAmp on my lovely rig.
Without any extras I was getting a SWR of 1.5, with the PreAmp only it
jumped to 2.1 and when I put the Burner on it drops to just past 1!

Is this a true reading or does adding these bit mess SWR readings up?

Cheers

well you getting feed miss match via the amp's...
get a seperate meter AFTER the Amps to get a true reading..
but if your getting a big mismatch there could be a fault with either
amp..or they have been 'twiddled' and ballsed the matching coils up a bit..

no you should put the meter between the radio and the amp.
then if pos tune the amp to present the radio with 50R
(plate & load). though ofcourse a wideband CB amp won;t have that.

load of bull really anyway as the length of patch lead will change it
anyway.

stick a dummy load on the amp o/p, then try the meter after radio & after
Amp.
if it is diff, the matching coils & caps need adjusting.

but at 35w why bother unless the radio or amp gets red hot

OK.

Disregard it and use a separate meter between the amp and antenna.

If you can afford it invest in a good quality meter.

Adjust the antenna for lowest reflected power on low power.

Then, re-connect the amp.

put the meter in the coax from the aerial...not in the coax to the amp.
