Default Avanti Moonraker Base

Hi All..

I'm on the lookout for an Avanti (At least I think it's an Avanti) Moonraker
Magmount base for a 6ft whip. I've been told it's like a Wilson base but
it's male rather than female.

Any help appreciated...

And with language like that, do you really think we'd support you in
"taking your licence"? Though exactly where you'd want to take your
licence is open to speculation!

I presume you are referring to the term "ham" referring to amateur radio?

Why?
As has been pointed out. Anybody, can add whatever callsign they like
to postings on here.

They could even use your callsign if they choose and there is nothing
you could do about it.

This is not amateur radio.
This is USENET. There is a difference... Trust me.

sorry not followed this thread up to now.

there are / were fibreglass whips ending in Female UHF thread.
if its the white tapered one then its not even that thread
it comes from a boat and is just a giant loaded helical wound thing.

if I remember them does it have a hole for the UHF centre
pin or not?

PS have you tried:
try CPC.co.uk.

No, it's not a 239, it has a much coarser thread and has a centre pin
protruding that goes into the base of the antenna.

Picture of the antenna here http://tinyurl.com/raqtj which might be helpful.

If you can't get a magmount with that weird base (never seen anything
like it before), but if you can get a panel mount version, you could
probably fit it to one of those triple magmount things that have the
T-piece between the three magnets. You might want one of those anyway
with a 6ft whip!

Christ
where did you find that,.
I've not seen one in almost 25yrs or better.
strange to hear you say it has a 6ft whip though
they were CB ofcourse. but not 6ft

anyhow.
they were a specific magmount with the other bit built in to the base
covered in rubber.
the magnet used to get cracked or the thing would rust as for some strange
reason it held water in the wrong place!
or get hit by a tree and break off at the base.

its not a standard connector of any sort and I only ever saw it on the base
for that one aerial

now I think you might find that if you take the outer barrel off a 259 it
will go up inside but might need jamming or turning down a bit
but the pin fits ok when you can get it in.
either that or it will be one of the push fit 259's that might fit.

I know one or the other did work as a bodge when me friend got his nicked
[now you can see why!]

thats the boy
and sorry i got it sort of wrong.[well it was 25yrs ago!]

you will find the aerial connector for the back of a car radio will fit it.
but you have to pad or thicken the barrel a bit

the coax over on themselves to get a good grip
for the braid/earth up inside that bit, but we never solved the screw thread
part, it was just push fit

i think we mounted in by screwing a plate with a hole in the botton to the
base and using a magmount w
