This July, it'll be 25 years since the CB legalisation rally in
Trafalgar Square - probably one of the decisive steps in persuading the Government to grant legalisation. As a journalist, I'm researching the rally and the whole pro-CB movement - from national pressure groups such as UBA and NATCOLCIBAR to more ad-hoc activism. I'm hoping to write some features looking back to one of the last grassroots campaigns to make a real difference, in time to mark the 25-year anniversary of the big London rally. If anyone on this list was involved in the legalisation movement, and would like to share their experiences, thoughts and memories from that time, please email me off-list: mail [at] williamhambevan [d0t c0m]. No financial incentives, I'm afraid - just shared enthusiasm! WHB |

However, having only just turned 15 at the time, I can't remember it too well. Makes me feel old now, I do remember the green paper on it and realising what a mistake we had made in getting it legalised. Always learn from mistakes/experiences! |

I went to the HMSO shop in London and people were coming in continuously asking for it. We were given a piece of paper with the address of some Home Office depot and you had to write off for it. Most didn't, it was assumed this was a ploy to collect the names and addresses of CBers. I *did* send off for it, and didn't get any unexpected visits!
