several places, but the average CBer would'nt have a clue..
look on fleabay but expect to pay £100 and over.. or get registered on some US CB sites, get plenty of small linears from the US for £200 to £500, small being less than 1kw..!! What about those who 'have' good quality metal in the sky and want more power too? Why do people think 'boots' are required because the aerial is cr*p? If that was the case why do so many Amateurs need 400W? Just a point... no personal attack intended -- ...--- . ----- -.-- ... ..- 73/51 - Graham www.open-channel.co.uk |

I run a TS850 here and its never had "boots" on it . I wouldnt win any world records for dx but ive done well on it. |

but even 100w is small in todays CB world...
it's the norm on 19....HF sets are run of the mill.. now me personally use 10w to drive my 1kw !!!! but only use it to drown out the mud duck euro'sd on triple..!! or the bowl.. as anothe rlink says, look on youtube at some of the power they use in the US..1kw is the norm for homebase.. and anything goes mobile, 70kw anyone ??? Search for the name 'Palomar'. You may have to import as there aren't many of their products in the UK, but they do manufacture amplifiers of ridiculous wattages for CB. Google is most definetly your friend. |

Just a > point... no personal attack intended 400W is fine, if everyone is running it. When others are running just 4 Watts it becomes a real problem, as you cannot hear people screaming that you are "stamping" on another conversation. It's pointless getting out 100 miles, if you can only hear 10. I have also known people running amps and base microphones cranked up, knocking out TVs, radios, etc and wiping out CB channels for miles around them. Complaints were coming in from all over, but they really couldn't care less - as long as they had what they wanted. Music players were not the only selfish wallies that made many serious users give up. Just a point... no personal attack intended. Regards, Peter. http://www.citizensband.radiouk.com/ |

I also have a 600w linear ![]() Andy |
