Default When Squirrels wake up

I have a large tree outside my kitchen within viewing distance.

Up until a few weeks a ago I always saw a group of suirrels (grey) at the base
of the tree.I assume their absence in the last weeks is due to hibernation?

So when can I expect to see the creatures back?

I don't believe grey squirrels actually hibernate, although they do shelter
from the cold. So, if their absence is due to the cold spell as opposed to
some form of 'pest control', or a permanent relocation to a more favourable
spot, I'd guess you'd notice a return to more 'normal' behaviour patterns
when the weather warms up a little, hopefully very soon :-)

The fact that they spend Autumn burying acorns is a big hint that they
intend to be out and about through the winter gathering them up again to
keep them going...

I guess your right there. Its starting to warm up a little now so it will be
interesting to see when they return. They must have their nest very well hidden
cos I cant see them anywhere around the tree.

thanks
