ITV3 (available on Freeview) are carrying repeats of "Survival", the ITV equivalent to 'Wildlife on One'. It's on most days, around 6am, but the time is not fixed, and there is sometimes a second episode, at any time from 1am - 10am. Forthcoming episodes of particular birding interest include: Sunday 8 January 2006, 6am The Owl and The Timberman Sunday 15 January 2006, 6am Goshawk - Phantom Of The Forest -- Andy Mabbett Say "NO!" to compulsory ID Cards: <http://www.no2id.net/> |

"Peter F James" wrote > There's no problem if you use your kill filters. And there he was, gone > for ever. That is true, so why do all these people who constantly tell us they dislike Andy persist in what seems like persecution when all they need to do is "Blocked Senders List" him to never see any of his posts again? It doesn't make sense. Personally I've never found cause to dislike Andy, quite the opposite in fact (but then I do try to stick to Usenet conventions). :-) His posts here are on topic and usually information which you may or may not find useful. Nothing to get up-tight about. -- Regards Bob |

After reading all the discussion about Andy Mabbett I have to ask what
is the problem? In my 12 years of reading various usenet groups I can't remember anything offensive from Mr Mabbett. What did he do? |

Andy doesn't like people that flaught the conventions of Usenet and he used to tell them so and where they were going wrong, being the sort of people they are they objected to his comments. They act like children then get upset when someone treats them like children, usual story. I know, years ago, he upset a self confessed Freemason on another Ng who said he would get Andy, later even boasting that through Fm contacts he had got Andy the sack from his job. (Nice people these modern freemasons!!! My uncle would turn in his grave if he knew). It wasn't actually true though. What he and his friends did do was hound Andy off that group which was a shame as he was an interested and interesting contributor. -- Regards Bob |

I assume the mason you are referring to is Mike Crowe? Mr Crowe detests being corrected, slighted, lectured, hectored or patronised, witness his continuing feud with the 'owners' of uk. rec.gardening. IIRC, Andy's 'net-nanny' opprobrium wasn't limited to Mike Crowe and his associates, though, he had an unfortunate knack of upsetting a wide range of people. No doubt he meant well, but I don't think diplomacy was his forte. |

Yes, Andy's diplomacy was suspect on occasion but then things can read differently to what is meant depending on the view of the reader, but I don't remember him ever being wrong or threatening anyone personally. (except rightly reporting abuse to ISPs) Most people tend to have a negative reaction to being corrected, and a lot puff up and blast off before thinking about it and accepting they are at fault, yet others are never wrong which brings us back to Mr C. As for Mr.C's feud with URG regulars, he is a self confessed Troll on that group so what should he expect? -- Regards Bob |

As for him perhaps having been 'wrong', on occasion, that rather depends on one's views on pedantry (or pedanticism!), I think. <snip> > > As for Mr.C's feud with URG regulars, he is a self confessed Troll on that > group so what should he expect?
