Default Tally counter for a quid

Poundland have done it again.

They have four-digit metal tally counters (for a pound, obviously),
which look like this one:

They're humorously (sic) branded as "totty counters" ("The totty keep
lookin' so you keep clickin' How 'hot' are you?"), but apart from that,
they seem to be just the same as those sold by sports and natural
history equipment suppliers for a tenner or more, and used by people who
count geese or ducks, or whatever.
