Default Seals in fresh water

Strolling along the River Coquet on Friday I was fascinated to watch a
seal unconcernedly swimming upstream. This was just upstream from
Warkworth, so a couple of miles from the sea.

Do they often venture inland?

Ken,
This is quite common. I've seen them myself 15-20 miles inland in the
river tees. Sometimes they stay for weeks, so long as there are plenty of
fish for them to eat.
