Hi Rodney
I'm not an expert on butterfly behaviour so if I get this wrong I'm sure I will be corrected but as nobody's replied I thought I'd have my tup'pence worth. >From what I've seen butterflies are indeed territorial, most commonly flying at other butterflies but indeed seems to chase almost anything that moves. I would assume that its a breeding strategy whereby its chasing off other males (assuming its a male) so that it increases the chances of it breeding with more females in its domain. HTH Tony |
