Default Insect id.


I'd be grateful for some help in identifying this insect.

I'm assuming it's of the Order Orthoptera but I cannot match its colour
to anything in my reference books.

Looks a bit like what we used to call Soldier Beetles as kids.

My initial reaction exactly. But it doesn't seem to have the long wing
covers. I'll see what my book says...
