Default Fungus growing on a tree, some photos

I saw this fungus growing on what I think is an elder tree, I was
impressed enough to go back with my camera.
Does anyone recognise it?

Judas Ear or Jew's Ear - Auricularia (syn. Hirneolas) auricula-judea

and nicely edible too, in a stir fry or stew. nothing to confuse it with
either so safe for beginners (like me).
