The Young Master was lousy. I treated him (and self) with "Full
Marks" mousse. This contains an insecticide (phenothrin). I applied it as directed, and was rewarded by seeing a considerable number of lice removed. Some of these lice I kept, to examine under a microscope. After a while, these started to wiggle, and one even crawled to the other side of the tissue paper I'd left it on. Is phenothrin always effective against head lice? I'd like to repeat the treatment next week. Is "Full Marks" the best stuff? It certainly is expensive! Are there any cheaper effective remedies? |

I personally don't rate the Full Marks mousse.
I can recommend Derbac M, but it all depends on which chemicals the lice in your area are sensitive too. I think Full Marks is "popular" as you only have to leave it on for a short period where as Derbac is a 12 hour job, but for us Full Marks didn't work so there was no time saved. Local pharmacist will probably have an idea as to what is working in your area. Derbac M was recommended to me by pharmacist as I have asthma and other respiratory problems and it is good for people like me. "Chris Bacon" > I'd like to repeat the treatment next week. Is "Full Marks" > the best stuff? It certainly is expensive! I put off buying this stuff because I thought it was a bit expensive but, after paying out to treat my family of four for the third time, I decided it had to be worth a go. I would strongly recommend buying the whole kit - including the nit comb that costs nearly £11 (I had to really talk myself into *that*, I can assure you!). Dawn |

A nit comb and tweezers. Nits really do pop with a most satisfying feeling, and sound if you're listening. Just keep doing it night and morning until you don't find any more for a couple of days. -- Pd |

In fact, the insecticide may have damaged even the wriggly ones enough for them not to be able to survive much longer, or to reproduce. (Although parties usually have a huge positive effect on reproduction, or so I'm told...) I've tried various things over the past 12 or so years. A week of daily wet combing with conditioner and a decent nit comb (metal tangs) seems to work for us. Good luck! |

regular wet combing with conditioner is the best way to keep them at bay.
Try the bug busting website as they do a good set of combs or the nitty gritty website as this comb is also good. I've got both.
