Hi all,
I've just come back from 4 nights at 'The Secret Garden Party', (www.secretgardenparty.com ) a sort of Glastonbury (especially the mud). There was a "Lost Horizons Nomadic Spa". This is the blurb: "Lost Horizons return after their much loved no-clothes venue of steam filled tipis and intimate fire circles. This year the sauna will be bigger, the hot tubs deeper and the atmosphere a touch wilder, as we witness naked crowd surfing." Sounds good eh? The reality? An open air cold water shower visible from the festival paths to the lake crossing; A closed hot tub about 5ft wide and 4ft deep. A sauna yurt (a kind of Arabic tent), very nice but very crowded, and, thanks to extremely frequent visits from staff to water the stones, very hot. Carol and I paid £5 each for this, went naked amoungst mainly teens and twenties in swimming costumes or boxer shorts (most girls went topless, and believe it or not when we were there there were more naked women than men), had a quick rinse using the water from the shower rather than using the shower itself, 10 minutes in the sauna, another shower, and were back at our tent in about 30 mins. I personally think that a lot of this was to do with there being no other shower facilities at all, or at least none advertised. Six thousand people, no showers, and an estimated 120 portaloos. (Torrential rain, thick mud, portaloos that by the start of the second day had more mud than the field outside..) On the plus side... Some great acts, both the old (Echo and the Bunnymen, Prince Buster), the new (Laura Groves has a bloody brilliant voice, but she needs to learn that for a song to be popular it needs to have a beginning, a middle, and an end rather than three starts....) and the wonderful (The Manor House Quartet and the amazing Sock Wrestling.) Has nobody ever thought of organising a nudist music festival for about 1000 people somewhere like the location of the Secret Garden Party? |

I have just returned from one at Merryhill in Norwich. Great weekend. Jan and I have now been to the last three annual events. I think they have had six or seven now. Stan |

Nice idea, but is the assumption that the music would be modern pop? (Indeed are the groups named pop groups, I just wouldn't know? ++) Honestly, I'm not trying to be difficult, it's just that music tastes differ so much. With the age structure (and probably the education structure) of British naturism it might well be that Mozart and earlier would be the popular choice. ++ I am intrigued by the name Manor House *Quartet*, which suggest a different sort of music. Would like to know. Keith |
