You may recall I wanted to propose a motion to the 2007 AGM of British
Naturism along the lines of ; "That BN's executive be instructed to produce a single authoritative version of the minutes of its meetings and those of all its sub-committees. These minutes are to be approved within 14 days of the meeting to which they relate, and shall be made available to members within 21 days of that meeting, free on BN's website and in printed form on application to the BN office and payment of a fee intended only to cover the direct costs to BN of doing so." This motion is intended to do away with the EC's information management practice at the moment which involves at least 2 versions of the minutes of important meetings, one for themselves, and a much edited version for the members which often leaves out items which are of significance to members, but which the EC wishes to keep from them. Current practice is also to produce minutes so long after the meetings that they are of little practical value to members in knowing about or influencing events. It is a part of a more open approach to BN governance. With modern communications it is entirely practical, and will not increase BN's costs. I still need a few more BN members prepared to sign up to this to get it proposed. The deadline is rapidly approaching, so if there is anyone else who is a current BN member and might be prepared to be a sponsor of this motion, can you let me know off group please? Duncan Heenan |
