Hello,
The love of my life is a ZXR750. Doin' some strange things though..... Sometimes the starting motor wont turn until I play with the clutch or knock it into first then back to neutral again..just today, i stupidly stalled it at a junction (in 1st) and couldnt get it started again, no starting motor, until i knocked it down into neutral and released the clutch then it started first time ...wierd. Also, when I pull up, and with the engine running I put the side-stand down, the engine often cuts out. First impressions would be side-stand kill switch problem, but this clutch/gearing effect is puzzling me... Is there any other likely problem? Any ideas welcomed, please.. John. |

Is there any other likely problem? There's a moderatley complex logic circuit built into the starter and ignition circuits that goes like this: - if the bike is in neutral, the starter will work. - if the bike is in gear, the starter will work as long as the clutch is in - if the side stand is down the engine will run if it is in neutral, or the clutch is in. So, you've got something dodgy going on with these circuits - most likely to the neutral light or the clutch switch. Is the neutral light reliable, or does it sometimes stay off when not in gear? The only way to sort this is to go through the circuits with a wiring diagram and some contact cleaner. -- Champ GSX-R 1000, GPz 750 turbo, ZX7RR Endurance Racer x 2 GYASB#0 BotToS#2 BOTAFO(T|F)#35 WG*#1 DFV#8 Team UKRM Racing : www.team-ukrm.com |

Aha! yes-in-deedy the neutral light has twice stayed on after Id changed gear,
once for the whole journey. Nice one champ! ...now where was that Haynes manual? Thanks guys, John. |
