Default What a *nice* looking bike

Filling up at Asda yesterday, I notice a bright, shiny new bike in
lovely blue ... I walk over to find it's a new SV650S ...

http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/

The pics really don't do it justice ... in the flesh, it looked
wonderful, and the K3 style tail light actually seems to look good on it
.... strip away the silly mudguard/plate hanger and you'd have something
rather nice.

Made me wonder what the similar-looking-in-pics SV1000S looks like in
the flesh.

They still look, to me, 50% lovely, 50% cheap.

In blue? I've seen a silver one and yes, it was hom, but the little blue
SV650S looked *really* nice.

Yeah, there was one up at Ron Parkinson last week, when I was trotting
around killing a bit of time with my Dad while we had our bikes
serviced. I was really hoping to like it, because I want a big V-twin
at some point, and they're obviously a lot cheaper than a Duke.

I saw a new one on the M25 about a month ago. It looked quite sweet
from two lanes away.

I like the looks, but they do them in the wrong colours this year.

Next year they need to:
Keep the blue
Add Metallic Black.
Add GSXR Blue/White (with bellypan)
Drop the silver and the metallic diarrhoea colour schemes.

Do an 'RS' model with upmarket suspension, New ECU, Race can, etc in
GSXR colours..

Definitely agree here. I think they call it 'copper', but it's not
pleasant.

Fairy nuff. I agree that the bellypan improves the look of the S model
- from what I saw on the old model. You can even get a full fairing for
them.

The look quite nice, not my style of bike though.

Someone (ATG?) recently said that the new 650s have the same frame
as the 1000s, so they are bigger than the older models. It certainly
looks the case from the pictures.

I think so too, flipping betwen the pics. Plus I cringe at that
oil filter sitting unprotected[1]... And _why_ do Suzuki insist in cropping
the rear of their front mudguards?

[1] I once flicked a half-brick up from the front wheel of my GS550B, straight
between pipes 2&3 onto the oil-filter housing. Luckily it didn't crack.

You ought to be more careful - you can harldy blame the manufacturer
if you go around riding over half-bricks, FFS.

there's one parked downstairs - I agree actually - in terms of looks
it's miles ahead of the original SV650S.

Still very much chick wheels, though (and in fact the one in question
is ridden by a bird).

I was accelerating up behind a clapped-out Kombi, preparing to pull
out and pass, when the brick appeared in the centre of the lane behind the
VW. I managed to start to swerve, but still caught the edge of the brick on
the side of the tyre. Damn nasty road that was, past the AAEC at Lucas
Heights -- there was a rubbish dump further along the road and often debris
on the road. I must have had at least 5 nails in my tyres in the two years
I worked at the AAEC.

No he's got a point ... now I think of it I did, then, but I've seen a
few more since and I sort of went off the whole idea.

I'd like to apologise publicly to dan for not finding his bike beautiful

I reckon the old shape ones look far nicer - the plastic
plateholder/mudguard/indicator mount on the K3 looks like an
