Default SOBs to the Ardennes, anyone?

Right, this has been such a crap summer that I really haven't managed to
clock up the mileage that I need to keep body and soul together before
the onset of winter. And I have a lot of holiday time I have to use
somehow.

1 and 2 September sees the Belgian Classic TT, at Gedinne, in the
Ardennes.

http://www.ihro.org.uk/circuits/gedinne.htm

http://www.crmb.be/gedinne_2007_gb.htm

Please note that this is conveniently close to Sedan, where there's a
nice hotel that has twice accommodated the thirsty denizens of ukrm.

Suggestion: out on Friday 31 August. Friday night at base camp: the
hotel in Sedan. Saturday and Sunday at the circuit, returning to the
hotel on Saturday night.

Reason for that, rather than camping, is simple convenience plus the
fact that we won't have to carry loads of camping kit. And it's a nicely
cheap hotel anyway.

On Sunday, depart when the racing's ended and pitch up at a Campanile
hotel mid-way between the circuit and Calais. Reason for this choice of
hotel is that almost all French private hotels seem to close their
restaurants on Sundays, whereas you can always get a decent dinner at a
Campanile.

Rules: SOBs if poss, or modern bikes under 400cc unless owner can make a
special case for his choice of steed. Platy's outfit comes to mind here.
Nothing to stop anyone coming on a CBRGSXRYZF plastic rocket, of course.

If the numbers are sufficient (like more than 10 bikes) I can probably
wangle a deal with POSL.

Anyone up for it? Email me at

chateau dot murray at dsl dot pipex dot com.

Hmm, I don't...

Bugger, that's only a couple of days before I'm flying to the US so I guess
that's out. I'm still tempted to make good use of a Eurotunnel Day return on
the bank holiday weekend...

Heh might be a trip worthy of a SOBMW if I can't manage the MGP. The lack of
camping is attractive simply from the POV of bulk of luggage.

Ducati 900 Monster - it sounds nice.
Is that a special enough case?

BTW: Did you miss the post about a 750SS manual on CD?
Let me know if you want it.

And the DTM at the Nordschleife that weekend as well.
I'm out on the 31st August and back 8th Sept.
Will be spending the 3rd -8th pootling around bits of Europe I haven't seen
yet.
Are you planning to just have a long weekend, or staying around for the week
after ?
When the DTM finishes I'll be within spitting distance of the Ardennes.

I'd love to, especially Gedinne, especially as there's an outside chance
that Project Binliner might be running by then, but unfortunately I'll be
cottaging in the Lakes District that weekend.

If some mad fool wants to, it may be possible to borrow the outfit for this
expedition (French friends of Bonwick excluded, obviously).

I learned from The Master.

Well, I would have done, but he didn't show up, so I had to teach myself.

<snip arrangements>

Looking at the distance from Sedan to Gedinne, it strikes me that it
wouldn't be too difficult to sort a non-camping version for Chimay...
