I have a similar Acer 17" laptop which came with Vista - it is now dual-
boot, and XP-Pro is default.

It comes with 1Gb RAM, which is no more than adequate for Vista - it needs
2Gb to work OK.

Do you think IP networks are the future for delivering such media and are
windows workstations the future for watching it?

They're not technically the best mechanism, but they are *a* mechanism,
and something that a huge number of people already have in their homes.

Look at it this way, if you were in charge of MS would you abandon the
project on the possibility it's not going to take off, or would you get
your stake in the ground in case it does?
