It's no big deal - a half-decent circular saw and a reasonably steady
hand should do the job. Worked for me, on several occasions.

Having said that, when we re-do the kitchen here it'll be a
professional job, but then it'll be a bit more than a few new units
and worktops, which I'd be happy to do myself.
