Just hold on there a moment! To which "experiences" are you referring? The broken chain, resulting in clutch slave getting ripped off, damaging clutch push rod, etc., etc.? Mea culpa: it was all my fault for thinking I could get an extra 1000 miles out of a chain, instead of changing it when I knew I should have done. In fact, I'd already decided that once finances allow[0] I'd be getting shot of the 9R, and replacing it with something very similar to what AndrewR is about to purchase, only with more black bits. [0] That is, once Mrs Eddie has a decent bike. -- Eddie eddie@deguello.org http://www.last.fm/group/ukrm |

Well... I'm not sure that finances would stretch that far. Although it is tempting... and the gold wheels look better than that bright red colour... and it's *much* more black... it would match my new lid better, which is the most important thing. -- Eddie eddie@deguello.org http://www.last.fm/group/ukrm |

Yeah, they used to be until quite recently, I think. A lot of the new-ish old stock that's hanging around in shops still has them. -- Eddie eddie@deguello.org http://www.last.fm/group/ukrm |

Fair enough. Don't forget the leaking caliper too, which IIRC was a bugger to get parts for, although I know that's a Brembo issue rather than Aprilia. >In fact, I'd already decided that once finances allow[0] I'd be getting >shot of the 9R, and replacing it with something very similar to what >AndrewR is about to purchase, only with more black bits. There's definitely something about the presence of a big V-twin on open pipes. Want one. -- Darren GSF1200N K3 |

The brakes never gave me any other cause for concern, right up to the last time I used them... -- Eddie eddie@deguello.org http://www.last.fm/group/ukrm |

Ah. Yeah, it was pretty good weather at the time. My first visit to the Black Horse, that was. <thinks> It's all your fault! >The brakes never gave me any other cause for concern, right up to the >last time I used them... Much like my old B6. The brakes were fine, but they didn't stop the bike. A car did. R480 ORM, you're still missed. Apparently rebuilt by a lorry driver from Oswaldtwistle. -- Darren GSF1200N K3 |
