That's the best thing. It's a dangerous business, this hobby of ours,
and it does us no harm to contemplate it from time to time.

As someone who has few social skills, I often feel the same way, but
don't feel the urge to post to that effect.

Why do you feel the need to say this everytime someone is looking for a
little comfort after a bad experience?

Just wondering like...

Quite so. It's never nice to heear people have died, and you feel a bit
for those left behind, but then you remember that it happens to a lot of
people all the time so you can't really go there.

Each one, though, does remind me to be just a little careful when out
myself.

As a newbie it is right that such stories are recounted to some extent.
It's easy to become complacent, especially when reading groups like this
where a, what may be called, 'blazé' attitude tends to prevail. It does me
good to be reminded that I'm doing something dangerous everytime I get on my
bike and that danger is somewhat increased by my relative inexperience.
Passing DAS in January and riding my bike everyday have been some of the
greatest experiences I have had in my 45 years on this planet. It doesn't
do any harm to be reminded that motorcycling could also result in the worst
experience in my life if I'm not as careful as I can be.

I think I'll give myself an extra ten minutes to get to work today.

I take the point but for some reason it's somewhat irritating. Most of
the women on the group are rather above such comments and while I cannot
recall meeting Claire in person she's obviously a clever person. I'm
sure she's capable of far more subtle and entertaining ripostes.

I don't see it that way. As I said in reply to Bear the women tend to
provide a more subtle counterpoint to the male predictable comments. I
rarely detect bitterness from the female posters but maybe that's
because they've already butchered a voodoo doll image of the poster
who's upset them?

Claire's comments just don't become her - even as a joke.

Good Evening Cheltenham - May we have the votes from the Snowleopard

A gold star for Mr Blaney. Nul points for some of the ukrm blokes.

I think she knows both Cane and Ben quite well so I'm sure they can sort it
out for themselves, I personally think it's refreshing to hear a girl
