Right, so i've some time off coming up. I've not really got the cash
to do the whole holiday thing, but (given I live only 10 minutes by tube from Waterloo station) I've got it into my head to go on a day trip to Paris (or maybe Lille, Brussels doesn't stand a chance). Paris i like (although it's wasted on the Parisians, IMO), but I've only been to twice, both with big groups and so just did the Eiffel Tower/Louvre/boat ride/Jean-Michel Jarre concert (alright, that was just the once) thing. Any suggestions on good ways to kill a day, preferably on foot, in Frog-central? Failing that, does Lille have anything worth going to see? (ObBike - I need to drop the bike off for crash mushrooms to be fitted, so this is another reason I only really need to kill a day) -- The Doctor. The former has all the great impressionists (it covers 1848 to 1914), the latter focuses on modern art. Both are great buildings too - Osay being a converted 19th century railway station, and the Pomidou being one of *the* controversial landmarks of late 20th century architecture. -- Champ : Old enough to know better GSX-R 1000, GPz 750 turbo, ZX-7RR Endurance Racer x 2 GYASB#0;BotToS#2;BOTAFO(T|F)#35;UKRMFBC#2;IHABWTMM J#3;MCT#5;WG*#1;BONY#40;DFV#8;IbW#17;SBS#34;BHaLC# 1 Racing : www.team-ukrm.co.uk. Walk along the Seine, through the parks (Luxembourg is a good park to go too, with photographic displays every so often), Champs Elysee, Musee d'Orsay, la Villette, Notre Dame. How much time do you have though? A day really is too short. What you can do, is give me a bell (drop me an email) if it's a w/e and we can meet up for a beer or two, or even an evening session would be a laugh. >Failing that, does Lille have anything worth going to see? Well obviously yes. Similarly a lot of the art galleries are only of interest if you like paint applied to canvas. |

Not sure about a whole day but IMO the area around republique and bastille is worth a wander and a few drinks.
