I've had a cold for the past week, and it's finally in its death throes.
However, I've a head full of snot, so how do I clear it? There's a fair amount coming out of it's own accord, but I currently have a blocked (and running) nose and wonky hearing. Is it steam+olbas oil, menthol crystals and a spicy curry (all together or one at a time?) or are there better methods? |

It's the absolute dogs danglers for a blocked / runny nose and headaches due to blocked sinuses. > Is it steam+olbas oil, menthol crystals and a spicy curry (all together > or one at a time?) or are there better methods? One solution could be to find a local plant hire company. Ask them to drive a steam roller [1] over you whilst you're lying down. Make sure they start with the feet and roll nice and slow. The experience should be similar to that of squeezing a reall stubborn spot - that is excruciating, takes forever and eventually goes with a most satisfying "pop". Another could be Sinex or similar nasal spray. Oh - and welcome to how I'll be feeling for several months when the hayfever season kicks in. Doesn't work like that (for me). The pollen is the cause and doesn't have to be anywhere near my nose. My symptoms are as you describe above. Oh and the itchy, swollen eyes of course. Yep, and bung in a genorous mix of bicarbonate of soda into the solution too. Not Olbas oil, it contains too many different oils, and confuses the senses. Try steaming with eucalyptus oil instead. Or Friar's Balsam. -- AnneJ ICQ #:- 119531282 |

Yup, that'd do it. Follow it up with as hot a curry or chilli con carne as you can tollerate, crystallized ginger for dessert. Then a drop of sinex up each nostril.
